Reverse description A stylised Melanesian totem idol or ritual figurine, rendered in bold relief, occupies the centre of the field, its elongated form incorporating traditional indigenous decorative motifs characteristic of the New Hebrides archipelago. The legend NOUVELLES HÉBRIDES arcs around the upper periphery, reading from left to right. The denomination 50f is prominently displayed in large numerals in the lower field, with a small owl privy mark of the Monnaie de Paris visible near the base of the totem. The overall design reflects the Franco-British Condominium's effort to incorporate local cultural heritage into the territory's coinage.
