Obverse description Three giant eland antelopes (Taurotragus derbianus) depicted in high relief at center, their elongated spiral horns dominating the upper field. The legend ETAT DU CAMEROUN arcs across the top, with the date 1ER JANVIER 1960 inscribed beneath it. The motto PAIX • TRAVAIL • PATRIE curves along the lower periphery. The word ESSAI appears in the left field, and the engraver's signature G.B.L. BAZOR is positioned to the right. The design is executed in a naturalistic style characteristic of Bazor's work for the Monnaie de Paris.
