Vorderseitenbeschreibung The obverse is laid out within an intricate engraved border of geometric guilloche ornaments, with denomination numerals "50" repeated in each corner. A central ribbon cartouche carries the issuer name "DE CURAÇAOSCHE BANK" in bold letterpress, beneath which the Dutch text "betaalt aan Toonder" and the large denomination legend "VIJFTIG GULDEN" appear. The serial number "№0001" is printed twice in the upper portion, with place and date "CURAÇAO 1918" below the denomination, and two manuscript signatures appear at the foot of the note.

Rückseitenbeschreibung The reverse is dominated by a finely executed engine-turned guilloche underprint radiating outward in concentric arcs from a central medallion, creating a sunburst effect across the entire field. At the centre, a quatrefoil guilloche frame encloses the large numeral "50" in plain typography. A block of Dutch legal text is printed above the central vignette, with an additional line of smaller text along the lower margin.

Anmerkungen

De Curaçaosche Bank was established in 1901 to serve the Dutch Caribbean territories, and by 1918 it remained the sole issuing authority for the islands — a position it would hold until the Banco di Caribe absorbed its functions decades later. The 1918 issues came during a period when transatlantic shipping disruptions caused by the First World War complicated the resupply of printed currency stock from the Netherlands, putting unusual logistical pressure on the bank's note management.

Pick 7I is one of several signature varieties within this denomination, and the specific signatory combination distinguishes it from otherwise nearly identical notes in the series. Survivors in any grade are uncommon; the islands' tropical humidity has not been kind to cotton-paper stocks from this period.
