| Description du revers | The reverse is printed in brown on white paper with an intricate guilloche background of fine concentric line work. A bold header panel at the top carries the English inscription THE BANK OF KOREA in white letters on a solid brown ground, flanked by acanthus scroll corner ornaments. At centre, the numeral 50 is set within a symmetrical four-lobed rosette formed by interlocking guilloche bands, itself surrounded by elaborate foliate scroll work extending to the right margin. The denomination 오십전 appears vertically along the left side, and the inscription 50 JEON is set in a panel at the bottom, with the date 1962 at the lower right corner. |

The 50 Jeon was issued as part of South Korea's Third Currency Reform of June 1962, a monetary restructuring pushed through by the military junta that had seized power the previous year. The reform replaced the Hwan with the Won at a ten-to-one rate, and small-denomination notes like this one were produced in quantity to ease the transition at a time when coin production could not keep pace with demand.
Printed domestically by KOMSCO rather than contracted abroad — as many earlier Korean notes had been — this issue reflects the junta's deliberate push toward self-sufficient currency production infrastructure.
