The 1989 and 1993 signature pairings on this series are worth noting: Porfirio Lobo Sosa, who signed here as a Banco Central official, would later serve as President of Honduras from 2010 to 2014 — an unusual trajectory from central bank bureaucrat to head of state. The American Bank Note Company held the printing contract across the entire seventeen-year run of this series, one of the longer continuous relationships ABNC maintained with a Central American issuer before its 1990 bankruptcy disrupted several such arrangements.
The 1993 date is particularly late given ABNC's insolvency; fulfillment of outstanding orders continued under successor arrangements into the early nineties.
