The Institut d'Emission de Syrie was a short-lived authority — Syria nationalized its central banking functions and replaced it with the Banque Centrale de Syrie in 1956, meaning this 1950 issue falls near the tail end of the Institut's operational life. Bradbury Wilkinson's involvement was typical for British-administered or formerly mandated territories at the time; the firm held contracts across the Middle East and Africa well into the postwar decade.
The P#77 series is not especially common in higher grades. The 50 Livres was the highest denomination in this run, and high-value notes from this period in the Levant tended to circulate hard.
