Additional information

Dakhla — the administrative center of Western Sahara under Moroccan control — issued this piece as part of a small series using dual denomination markings in both pesetas and dirhams, a deliberate assertion of the Sahrawi identity claim against Moroccan administration. The peseta denomination references the old Spanish colonial currency, dormant since Spain withdrew from the territory in 1976 following the Green March.

These issues were never legal tender in any recognized jurisdiction and saw no genuine circulation.
