Bank of England teller training notes are genuine curiosities — produced to the same physical and paper specifications as circulating issues so that cashiers could practice handling, sorting, and authentication checks without pulling live notes from stock. The 1994 date aligns with the period when the Bank was actively updating staff procedures around the newly introduced machine-readable security thread and improved ultraviolet features on the Series E £50.
These were never legal tender and were not issued through normal channels. Surviving examples almost always show heavy handling wear from repeated classroom use.
