Obverse description Green and light purple note with an ornate guilloche underprint covering the central field. At right, an intaglio portrait vignette of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in a dark oval frame, set against a floral rosette surround. The bank name in Persian script appears in a dark panel at upper centre, with the denomination in Persian calligraphy to the left of the portrait; serial numbers are printed in black at upper and lower margins.

Pick 76 belongs to the second signature variety of the Bank Markazi Iran series introduced after the 1971 rebranding from Bank Markazi Shahanshahi Iran — the word "Shahanshahi" (Imperial) was quietly dropped as the bank sought a more technocratic image, though the monarchy itself remained very much in place. The change is subtle enough that casual collectors frequently conflate notes from adjacent series.

These circulated heavily through the early 1970s oil boom years and well-worn examples are the rule, not the exception. High-grade survivors are genuinely uncommon.
