Pick 76 belongs to the second signature variety of the Bank Markazi Iran series introduced after the 1971 rebranding from Bank Markazi Shahanshahi Iran — the word "Shahanshahi" (Imperial) was quietly dropped as the bank sought a more technocratic image, though the monarchy itself remained very much in place. The change is subtle enough that casual collectors frequently conflate notes from adjacent series.
These circulated heavily through the early 1970s oil boom years and well-worn examples are the rule, not the exception. High-grade survivors are genuinely uncommon.
