The Qatar Monetary Agency was itself a transitional institution — established in 1973 after Qatar withdrew from the Gulf rupee zone and introduced its own currency, it functioned as a proto-central bank before being replaced by the Qatar Central Bank in 1993. This note falls near the end of that institutional lifespan. Thomas De La Rue had printed Qatari notes from the outset of the national currency, and the P#10 series maintained that relationship through what was effectively the QMA's final decade of operation.
The watermark remains the sole listed security feature — modest by the standards of what De La Rue was producing for other clients by the late 1980s.
