The IS-6 never saw combat. Developed in 1944 as a rival to the IS-2, it underwent factory trials but was rejected in favor of continuing IS-2 production — the transmission proved unreliable and the armor layout offered no decisive advantage. This coin, part of the Soviet "Weapons of Victory" series issued in the late 1980s and early 1990s as the USSR was dissolving, commemorates a machine that existed almost entirely on paper and in the factory yard.
