Thomas De La Rue's involvement was routine for British colonial territories — the firm held a near-monopoly on such commissions across the Empire during the interwar decades.
The series ran across an unusually long window for a single design, suggesting low replacement demand consistent with the islands' tiny population and limited commercial activity. P#5 is the high denomination of the set, which makes circulated survivors proportionally rarer than the lower values.
