Opmerkingen

Membang Moeda — loosely translated as "raising gold" — was one of several regional quasi-central banking bodies that operated in Sumatra during the Indonesian National Revolution, issuing currency to fund guerrilla resistance against returning Dutch forces. The notes were produced locally under wartime conditions, which accounts for the inconsistent print quality and paper stock found across surviving examples of this series.

P#319A is among the more elusive of the Membang Moeda issues. The revolutionary administration in Sumatra operated under constant military pressure between 1947 and 1949, and large portions of the circulating currency were either confiscated by Dutch forces or deliberately destroyed to prevent capture.
