Pattern pieces struck for the proposed 1966 coinage reform that would eventually reorganize Philippine currency under the New Society program. This particular design pairing — placing both Ferdinand and Imelda on a circulating denomination — was abandoned before production; no democratic government had ever put a living first lady on its coinage, and the political optics apparently gave pause even within the Marcos administration.
