Comments

Uganda's 1973 note series came at a volatile moment — Idi Amin had expelled the Asian business community the previous year and seized foreign-owned enterprises, leaving the economy in genuine disorder. The Bank of Uganda continued issuing through Thomas De La Rue on existing contracts, a practical continuity that sat awkwardly against the political rupture happening on the ground.

Pick 8 is the second 50 Shillings type for the independent bank. Watermark security on Ugandan notes of this period is sometimes poorly centered due to paper supply inconsistencies — worth checking alignment on any example.
