| Obverse description | Central vignette shows the Goodirka building in Hargeisa — historically the House of Representatives at Somaliland's declaration of independence and now the Supreme Court headquarters — with a kudu antelope vignette to one side. A silver overprint reading '5th Anniversary of Independence 18 May 1996' is applied across the face, referencing the commemorative occasion. Bilingual inscriptions appear in Somali and Arabic script alongside the denomination. |
