| 背面描述 | The reverse depicts a symbolic commemorative composition marking the fifth anniversary of South Ossetia's recognition by the Russian Federation. At the upper portion, a stylised scroll bears the legend 'УКАЗ ПРЕЗИДЕНТА РОССИЙСКОЙ ФЕДЕРАЦИИ О признании Республики Южная Осетия' (Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the Recognition of the Republic of South Ossetia), surmounted by the Russian state emblem. Below, a relief map of South Ossetia occupies the central field, flanked by the dates '2008' and '2013' denoting the recognition and anniversary years respectively. A traditional Ossetian ceremonial sword is depicted vertically over a stylised feast table or pirogi in the lower field. The inscription 'МАЙРÆМЫ МÆЙ 26' (26th of May, the feast day) appears along the bottom in bold raised Ossetian Cyrillic lettering. |

South Ossetia has no internationally recognized monetary system — it uses the Russian ruble in practice — making this issue a souvenir piece rather than circulating currency. The "National Bank" that authorized it has no correspondent relationships with any major financial institution. These gold pieces were produced for the collector market, almost certainly struck under contract by a foreign mint, and have never functioned as legal tender in any transaction.
KM# 10 places this among a small cluster of South Ossetian numismatic issues that appeared after the 2008 war with Georgia effectively froze the territory's political status.
