Beschrijving voorzijde The central field bears the full coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia, depicting a three-masted sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, a rising sun, a dove in flight, and a plough and spade in the foreground, all within a shield surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto. The fineness designation 'Au 999' appears to the lower left of the arms and the weight designation '1 oz' to the lower right, flanking the shield. The mintmaster's mark 'TS' is struck below the fineness notation at left. The legend 'CAESAR & CLEOPATRA' arcs prominently along the upper periphery, with the date '2026' immediately below it, while the denomination '500 DOLLARS' is inscribed along the lower periphery. The issuer legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' appears on a ribbon scroll at the base of the coat of arms.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a richly detailed romantic scene in high relief, depicting Cleopatra, bare-breasted and adorned in Egyptian regalia, tenderly cupping the face of Julius Caesar, who is shown in profile wearing a laurel wreath. The two figures are rendered in an intimate pose against a background that includes a tall Egyptian obelisk rising in the right field, evoking the historical and legendary union of Rome and Egypt. The composition is executed in a fine artistic style consistent with collector-grade proof coinage, with carefully modelled drapery and facial features contributing to the overall sculptural quality of the design.

Aanvullende informatie

Liberia has issued commemorative gold under its own authority since the 1960s, and the program has long attracted collectors more interested in the subjects than the issuer — the country maintains no meaningful domestic coin market and virtually all of these pieces are produced by European mints for direct export sale. The Caesar and Cleopatra pairing draws on their historically documented alliance beginning around 48 BC, when Caesar arrived in Alexandria during the civil war between Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy XIII.

The 2026 date places this issue ahead of its actual release, a scheduling practice common among licensed bullion and commemorative programs.
