Jamaica's 500-dollar polymer was introduced as part of the country's 60th independence anniversary issues in 2022, making the commemorative framing genuinely structural rather than incidental — the denomination itself was repositioned within the series to mark the occasion. De La Rue's polymer substrate work for Jamaica had been building since the earlier lower-denomination conversions, and this note extended that program to the highest circulating value.
