Burundi's shift to a hybrid substrate for this denomination was driven partly by durability economics — hybrid notes typically last two to three times longer than pure cotton-paper equivalents in high-humidity, high-circulation environments, which describes much of Burundi's cash economy accurately. Thomas De La Rue supplied the full package here, substrate included, as the printer has increasingly pushed proprietary hybrid solutions against competition from De La Rue's own rivals in the polymer space.

The P#50 series spans an unusually wide date window for a single pick number, reflecting reissues with incremental security updates rather than substantive redesigns. The hologram and see-through register combination is characteristic of De La Rue's mid-tier security specification for African central bank clients in this period.
