备注

The Caisse Centrale de la France d'Outre-Mer was established in 1944 to manage currency across French overseas territories as they were reintegrated into the monetary system following occupation and wartime disruption. This 500 Francs issue circulated across a remarkably wide geographic range — the same notes were legal tender simultaneously in territories spanning the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, and Pacific, differentiated only by overprint or issue stamp depending on the territory.

Clément Serveau was a prolific designer for French colonial issues, and Beltrand's engraving work for the Banque de France was among the most technically accomplished of the postwar period. The 1949 date places this note in the brief window before the CFA franc and CFP franc zones began diverging administratively, after which unified issues like this became impractical.
