Obverse description Typographic note in the Neoclassical Empire style, enclosed within an elaborate engraved octagonal border with ornamental corner vignettes bearing standing allegorical figures. The central field carries the denomination 'cinq cents francs' in large letterpress type, with handwritten date, three manuscript signatures (Contrôleur Général, Caissier Général, and Directeur Général), and the manuscript notation 'Bon pour Cinq cents francs, Paris'. A large underprint in blue-green reads 'cinq cents. 500 FR', and diagonal red cancellation lines cross the face.
