正面描述 The obverse features a centrally positioned depiction of That Luang, the iconic gilded Buddhist stupa and national symbol of Laos, rendered in fine detail against the distinctive swirling wood-grain patterned field characteristic of the Mokume Gane metalworking technique. The field displays flowing laminar striations of contrasting metal tones — copper and silver — curling across the entire surface. A beaded inner border encircles the central design. The legend BANK OF THE LAO PDR arcs along the upper field, with the date 2021 below it, and the denomination 500 KIP appears along the lower border.

附加信息

Mokume-gane is an 18th-century Japanese metalworking technique developed by swordsmith Denbei Shoami in which layers of contrasting metals are fused, twisted, and carved to produce wood-grain patterning. Its application to modern commemorative coinage is almost entirely a product of the last two decades, driven by a handful of specialist mints — most notably the Bavarian State Mint — licensing the process to smaller issuing authorities seeking differentiated collector product. Laos has no historical connection to the technique whatsoever; the Bank of the Lao PDR is here functioning purely as a licensing vehicle for a novelty bullion program.
