Western Sahara has no functioning independent government and has been administered by Morocco since the Spanish withdrawal in 1975-76 — it cannot legally issue currency. These "500 Pesetas" pieces were produced by private minting operations exploiting the territory's nominal status as a non-self-governing territory, selling them directly into the collector market. The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, which claims sovereignty, never authorized them.
The Plateosaurus, a Late Triassic prosauropod from central Europe, has no conceivable connection to the Western Sahara.
