Comments

Pick 59 is the genuine 1907 Banco de España 500 Pesetas — a large-format note of significant scarcity in original form. This item, however, is a replica, almost certainly produced by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre itself as part of Spain's centennial commemorative editions issued around 2002, when the peseta was withdrawn from circulation following euro adoption. The FNMT produced authorized facsimile sets for collectors during the transition period, printed on paper stock and clearly marked as reproductions under Spanish law.

Catalog value and collector interest attach entirely to whether the replica designation is stamped or printed on the note, and which commemorative edition this belongs to.
