Obverse description Central portrait of Ignacio Zaragoza, hero of the Battle of Puebla, flanked to the left by a vignette reproducing a detail from José Cusachs's painting "Fuertes combates sostenidos en los cerros de Loreto y Guadalupe", rendered in the style of a historical battle scene. Guilloche underprint patterns frame the composition, with the denomination and issuing authority inscribed in intaglio lettering across the face.

Reverse description Central vignette of the bell tower and twin domes of the Cathedral of Puebla, one of the finest examples of New Spanish Baroque architecture, surrounded by ornamental elements characteristic of the Puebla region.
