| 备注 |
The P#25 500 Ringgit is among the most short-lived high-denomination notes in Malaysian monetary history. Bank Negara demonetised the 500 and 1000 Ringgit denominations in 1999, ostensibly to combat money laundering and tax evasion — a move that left large quantities of these notes stranded outside the banking system, unclaimed or unexchangeable past the deadline.
Bradbury Wilkinson produced the note at their New Malden facility during a period when the firm still commanded a dominant share of Commonwealth currency contracts. They were absorbed into De La Rue in 1990, making this series one of the later BW commissions before that consolidation.
