The 2005 series marked a significant redesign for Seychelles banknotes, with Thomas De La Rue producing a substantially updated security specification compared to the preceding 1998 issues. The holographic foil strip on this denomination was a notable upgrade for a small island nation's currency — Seychelles had been an early adopter of De La Rue security technology, a relationship stretching back to the pre-independence Seychelles Rupee issues of the early 1970s.
P#41 is the highest denomination in the 2005 series, making it the most security-intensive note the Central Bank commissioned in that print run.
