| Aanvullende informatie |
The Goliath beetle depicted on this issue is native to equatorial African rainforests — not Indonesia — which makes its appearance in this series a deliberate choice to showcase biodiversity of global significance rather than endemic fauna alone. Bank Indonesia launched its 2019 non-circulating fauna series partly in response to international conservation advocacy, selecting species whose ecological collapse would carry consequences well beyond any single nation's borders.
Brass at this weight and diameter was chosen to distinguish the commemorative issues from the aluminium-based circulating 500 Rupiah coinage already in pocket use.
