Obverse description The National Monument at Savar is positioned at right, while a central vignette presents the Sat Gambuj Mosque — a 17th-century provincial Mughal architectural landmark situated in the Mohammadpur area on the northwestern outskirts of Dhaka. The design is rendered against a guilloche underprint with inscriptions in Bengali and English identifying the issuing authority and denomination.

Reverse description The central vignette presents an intaglio rendering of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh building (High Court Division) in Dhaka, a stately colonial-era structure with a prominent central dome, arched colonnades, and flanking wings set within landscaped grounds. The denomination numeral "500" appears in large print at upper right alongside the Bangladesh Bank seal, with the issuing authority inscribed in both English (BANGLADESH BANK) and Bengali (বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক) across the lower portion. The face value is additionally expressed in Bengali script (পাঁচশত টাকা) at upper left and in English (FIVE HUNDRED TAKA) vertically along the left margin, with the year 2002 printed at lower left.
