| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a finely detailed high-relief depiction of a snarling adult Siberian tiger, its head and powerful forequarters dominating the upper and central field, accompanied by two tiger cubs in the lower left foreground. A stylised pine branch and reeds are rendered to the right and lower right, evoking an East Asian artistic aesthetic. Chinese characters and the date '1998' are inscribed to the upper left of the composition, referencing the Year of the Tiger. The denomination '500 TUGRIKS' is inscribed in two lines along the lower rim. |

Mongolia issued a series of fine silver 500 Tögrög pieces in the late 1990s featuring animals of national significance, produced largely for the international collector market rather than domestic circulation. The Mongolian tögrög had suffered severe devaluation following the collapse of Soviet economic support in 1991, and hard currency from bullion coin exports represented a meaningful revenue stream for the Bank of Mongolia during this period of economic restructuring.
