Opmerkingen

Moldova's cupon series was a transitional currency, introduced after independence while the country remained in the ruble zone and scrambled to establish monetary infrastructure. The 5000 cupon sits near the top of that emergency series — by 1993, hyperinflationary pressure had made high-denomination coupons necessary almost immediately after the lower values were issued.

The cupon was replaced by the Moldovan leu in November 1993, at a rate of 1000 cupons to 1 leu. Circulation was brief.
