The Bank of Sudan's 5000 Dinars note of 2002 belongs to a period of acute monetary stress — Sudan's dinar had replaced the pound in 1992 at a rate of 1 dinar to 10 pounds, itself a response to inflation that had already gutted purchasing power. By the early 2000s, the 5000-dinar denomination, once significant, was covering routine transactions. The dinar was abolished entirely in 2007 when the pound was reintroduced.
The "Printed: 30.04.1945" field in this catalog entry is almost certainly a data error — the issuing authority did not exist until 1960.
