Opmerkingen

Chile was among the earliest Latin American countries to adopt polymer for its circulating notes, beginning with the 1000 Pesos denomination in 1998 before gradually extending the technology across the series. The 5000 Pesos polymer transition followed the same logic: reduce replacement costs on a high-turnover denomination. Printing was split between the Casa de Moneda de Chile and Note Printing Australia — not an unusual arrangement for countries building local polymer capacity while still relying on the Melbourne facility for production runs.

The transparent window on this note is integrated into the substrate rather than applied as a patch, which is characteristic of the NPA substrate used throughout the Chilean polymer series.
