| Opmerkingen |
The 5000 Piso "Victory at Mactan" is a commemorative note issued to mark the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mactan in 1521, where Lapulapu's forces killed Ferdinand Magellan — effectively halting the Spanish expedition's immediate ambitions in the Visayas. The 20% abacá content in the substrate is a deliberate nod to a Philippine-native fiber long associated with specialty paper and rope production; standard BSP circulating notes use a different blend.
TBB#1095 places it squarely in the commemorative series rather than the regular circulation issues, and production quantities were limited accordingly.
