Cambodia's 5000 Riel notes of this period were printed in relatively modest quantities for a denomination of this size, suggesting the series was not intended as a workhorse note — the 1000 Riel carried most of the transactional load in daily commerce during the 2000s, while the US dollar continued to dominate larger transactions in a persistently dollarized economy.
