Obverse description Central device features the colonial coat of arms of Portuguese Timor, comprising the Portuguese armillary sphere overlaid with the national shield, surmounted by a row of five castles and flanked by two clusters of small decorative floral ornaments in the field. The territorial name TIMOR arcs along the upper legend in large Latin characters, while the denomination 6$00 is inscribed prominently across the lower field. The entire design is contained within a beaded border.

Reverse description Central device depicts the Portuguese armillary sphere, a symbol of the Age of Discovery, with the Portuguese royal coat of arms superimposed at its center, the whole composition set upon the splayed arms of the Cross of the Order of Christ. The circular legend REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA runs along the upper periphery, while the date 1958 appears in the lower exergue, flanked by small decorative stops. The design is enclosed within a beaded border.
