正面描述 A printed reproduction of the Spanish Republican 60 céntimos postage stamp (correos) is affixed to the obverse of this cardboard emergency token. The stamp depicts a bare-headed female allegorical bust in left profile, representing the Spanish Republic, rendered in blue engraved-style illustration within a perforated rectangular stamp border. The denomination '60 CTS' appears in the upper right corner of the stamp, with the word 'CORREOS' running vertically along the right margin. The legend 'REPUBLICA ESPAÑOLA' is inscribed along the lower edge of the stamp.

附加信息

Yepes is a small municipality in Toledo province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency in 1937 when the Republic's metal coinage effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply unavailable in rural areas. These cartones moneda were authorized under Republican decree but produced entirely at the local level, which explains the wild variation in quality, denomination, and longevity across issues.

Cardboard currency rarely survived daily use. Most examples found today were preserved by collectors almost immediately after issue, not pulled from circulation years later.
