| 裏面の説明 | The central device depicts the iconic clock tower building of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani campus, rendered in fine detail within a beaded inner circle. The founding year '1964' appears to the left and '2024' to the right of the tower, marking the institution's diamond jubilee. Along the lower arc of the inner circle, the legend 'DIAMOND JUBILEE' is inscribed in Latin characters, and below that 'BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCE, PILANI' curves around the outer border. The upper portion of the coin carries the Devanagari legend 'बिड़ला प्रौद्योगिकी एवं विज्ञान संस्थान, पिलानी' and 'हीरक जयंती', referencing the diamond jubilee celebration. The reverse features a wide flat rim separating the outer legends from the relief design. |

Issued to mark the diamond jubilee of BITS Pilani's deemed university status, granted in 1964 when the institution was reconstituted under the patronage of G.D. Birla. The 60-rupee denomination directly tracks that anniversary — an unusual face value produced specifically because Indian commemorative rupee coins are routinely assigned denominations corresponding to the years being celebrated.
The .500 fineness is characteristic of modern Indian commemorative silver, a standard the mint has used across dozens of similar issues since the 1990s.
