| Zusätzliche Informationen |
Piedfort issues from the Central Bank of Libya in this period were struck as collector and presentation pieces, produced at double the standard planchet thickness. Libya's 1981 gold pieforts are among the least documented North African issues of the era — KM coverage is thin, mintage figures have never been reliably published, and few examples surface at auction. The disabled persons thematic series itself was tied to the 1981 International Year of Disabled Persons, a UN initiative that prompted numerous countries to issue commemorative coinage that year.
