| Obverse lettering | LVDOVICVS I DEI G (Translation: Luis 1st by the grace of God) |
| Reverse description | Large crowned monogram at center, formed by the interlaced letters F and L (for Ferdinandus and Ludovicus) set within a cross, the whole flanked by two crowned globes and two crowned pillars of Hercules representing the Spanish dominions. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central device, with a partial circular legend visible in the outer field. The composition reflects the standard type of Spanish colonial gold coinage of the early 18th century, rendered on an irregular cob flan typical of macuquina production. |
