Opmerkingen

The Riksens Ständers Wäxel-Banco — the Estates of the Realm's Exchange Bank — was one of the oldest central banking institutions in Europe, tracing its origins to 1668. By 1832 it was already in its twilight years, operating alongside the competing Riksgäldskontoret notes and facing the institutional consolidation that would eventually produce the Riksbank in its modern form. The denomination itself is telling: 97 Riksdaler Specie is an odd figure, and Transport notes of this type were not issued in round denominations but in precise amounts corresponding to actual debt obligations or remittances being transferred between parties.

The embossed seal served as the primary authentication device at a time when Sweden had no intaglio security printing infrastructure comparable to contemporary British or French issues.
