Additional information

Baesuri is identified with the site of Castro Marim in the Algarve, near the mouth of the Guadiana River — a position that made it a significant port under Roman provincial organization of Lusitania. The mint's output was modest and geographically isolated, which explains the persistent scarcity of its bronzes in the numismatic record. CNH 400 and the RPC Online assignment to I#53A reflect ongoing scholarly revision of southwestern Hispanian series, and the Vives attribution predates several die studies that have since complicated the sequence.
