Marion was a Greek city-state on the northwestern coast of Cyprus, eventually destroyed by Ptolemy I around 312 BC as punishment for its pro-Persian sympathies during his campaign to control the island. This tiny bronze, issued under the magistrate Timocharis, belongs to the autonomous civic coinage produced before that destruction — after which the site was abandoned and its population forcibly relocated to Paphos.
