| Obverse description | Islamic religious legend in Arabic script occupying the entire field, struck on a small irregular flan typical of hammered billon coinage. The Shahada is rendered in two lines reading 'There is no god but God / Muhammad is the Messenger of God.' The lettering is crudely but characteristically struck, with individual characters showing the compressed, angular style common to Crimean Khanate akces of the early sixteenth century. The field is flat and unbordered, with the legend filling the available space. Minor striking weakness is visible at the periphery due to the irregular flan shape. |
