| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse displays the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) arranged in two lines of Arabic thuluth script within a double-line circular border, a standard device on Ottoman akçe coinage of this period. The upper line reads 'La ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but God) and the lower line reads 'Muhammad rasul Allah' (Muhammad is the messenger of God). The legends are boldly engraved and fill the central field, with the irregular flan edge visible at the periphery. The overall style is consistent with mid-sixteenth-century Ottoman mint practice. |
