| Beschrijving keerzijde | The personification of Spes (Hope) is depicted striding left in a degenerate, barbarous style. She raises the hem of her garment with her left hand and extends a flower in her right hand, following the conventional iconographic type of the official Tetricus II antoninianii. The execution is crude, with simplified drapery and rough flan preparation typical of contemporary barbarous radiates struck in the Gallic provinces. The surrounding legend imitating SPES AVGG is partially legible amid the debased letterforms. |
