| Description du revers | A plain cross pattée occupies the central field, with pellets or small annulets disposed in the angles between the arms, a decorative arrangement common on 11th-century Carolingian-derived deniers. The arms of the cross extend nearly to an inner beaded circle, and small ornamental devices fill the quadrants. The circumferential Latin legend NAMVCVM, introduced by a cross pattée stop, identifies the mint city of Namur and runs around the periphery of the irregularly shaped hammered flan. |
