Descrizione del dritto	The obverse displays the royal monogram of Pepin the Short in large, boldly raised letters occupying the central field, formed by the ligature of the letters R and P — abbreviating REX PIPINUS (King Pepin). The monogram is rendered in the characteristic Carolingian hammer-die style with thick, slightly irregular strokes. A small pellet is visible between the letters, and an additional pellet appears to the lower right of the P. A horizontal bar or crosslet element surmounts the composition at the top of the field. The flan edge is irregular and exhibits the typical granular border of early Carolingian hammered coinage.
